You'll fly into Rio de Janeiro via the RIOgaleão (GIG) international airport. From there, you can structure your stay according to how much time you'll have and what you'd like to do. We've put together three recommended itineraries, descending in order from shortest to longest:

  • Just the wedding (4 nights): Arrive on Thursday, June 5th and Depart on Monday, June 9th to do the trip as quickly as possible, while still allowing time to acclimate and account for risk of travel delays.

  • See Rio de Janeiro and Petrópolis (7 nights): Arrive on Sunday, June 1st and Depart on Monday, June 9th to spend a few days in Rio de Janeiro and Petrópolis prior to the wedding.

  • Attend the Extended Resort Party (2 weeks): Arrive on Sunday, June 1st and Depart on Saturday, June 14th to do it all, including Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis and the Extended Resort Party at Club Med.

We recommend booking travel at least two months in advance for the best options and pricing. Ensure that you have a valid passport and have obtained an e-visa well in advance of your departure date.

Agenda

What to expect

We're delighted to present a program of food, drinks and entertainment that will allow you to sample the greatest Brazil has to offer. This evening's selections stem from the memories we've made here in Brazil and with you, our friends and family.

3:30 PM

Wedding ceremony

Join us outdoors for a ceremony overlooking the tropical mountains of the Perobas Valley, where we'll renew our vows more than 5 years after saying 'I do' in San Francisco. We look forward to sharing this moment with you.

Panoramic view

5:00 PM

Golden hour

Following the ceremony, the sunset lounge is open. Enjoy a caipirinha (Brazil's national cocktail), hear the classic sounds of a live Bossa Nova band (a relaxed style of Samba from the 1950's), try some fresh carpaccio or exotic fruit, and soak in the sunset over the mountains from the lounge's elevated platform.

Open bar

Hors d'oeuvres

Dinner service

8:00 PM

Live pagode band

As the sun goes down and gives way to the night, catch the sounds of a live Pagode band (a party style of Samba from the 80's), playing the happy and upbeat music you'd hear pouring out of bars and beach parties alike if you were out on an evening such as this in Rio de Janeiro. Bar service and hors d'oeuvres continue, complimented by a host of traditional Brazilian desserts.

Live DJ & saxophone show

Under the stars, the real party sets in. Hear the beats of a live DJ and saxophonist that we first encountered on a night out in Itaipava years ago. From Pink Floyd to Calvin Harris, be ready for an original blend of music that hits all the right notes.

Send off

Join us for a saideira, known as 'the final drink' which somehow always ends up being two or three, but nevertheless is always the best one, shared amongst close friends at the end of a great night.

Saideira

Extended resort party

The day after the wedding, we're heading to Club Med Rio das Pedras. An all-inclusive beachfront resort in the Mata Atlantica nature reserve, this upscale property is situated in a private cove along the Atlantic coast. It offers a private beach, multiple pools, all-day drinks and food, water skiing and wake boarding, and quaint accommodations.

If you'd like to join us, book your stay directly through Club Med for June 8th - 11th. Shuttle service will be provided from Araras to Club Med and back to Rio de Janeiro.

Our story

Our story

On November 16th, 2014 we had our first date in Cincinnati. A month later, Paula had to return to Brazil and Austin moved to Boston. Despite only knowing each other for a few weeks, we were already in love. With 4,800 miles between us, we traveled back and forth between Boston and Rio de Janeiro to see each other. After two years of long distance, Austin made the move to Brazil.

Paula completed her Masters in Civil Engineering and Austin got his dream job at Google, bringing us to California. In 2019, we were married in San Francisco with our families present. This would be the first time they met. There, we set a goal to have a ceremony in Brazil.

In 2021, we moved to Texas, Paula got her dream job, and we built our first home together. Now, we're looking forward to renewing our vows in celebration of our marriage, together in Brazil with our closest friends and family — just as we imagined it.
